Remote access shows black screen with avi file
« on: March 24, 2010, 03:25:06 PM »
Hi All,

When I use remote access when the screen is showing a powerpoint presentation I can see this on my screen.
So far so good.
But when the screen is playing an AVI file I get a black screen on my remote screen.
The AVI file is showing on the Samsung screen so there is no problem with codec.

I there a solution for this problem?
Thanks in advance.

It's the way VNC works and the layer the video plays in on the client screen-as far as I am aware it will always show avi/mpg and the like as a black block. Flash objects you can see and everything else, just not video.

Does anyone know if there is a remote program that shows the video as well??

Yes, this is correct. VNC does not handle video. I use Dameware utilities, this is pretty good including video distribution. The problem is that you have to pay per license. I only use it on a couple of DXn devices, but do not have the license for the rest of the units.
