Magic Info Premium and powerpoint
« on: October 03, 2014, 09:30:38 AM »
Hello all. I'm new to all this so if this comes across as dumb please forgive me. I have 2 client screens which are connected and showing up in my Magic Info premium server V2.0 MIIPS 2005.0 as blue and connected.

I tried to add content as a powerpoint presentation. The presentation is there under content and I have set a schedule and Powerpoint viewer 2007sp3 is installed on the client.

How do I make it run and work within the schedule automatically?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi jassav,

Create appropriate content (Office element) in MagicInfo Author and upload content to the server. Create or edit Schedule and asign content (LFD file) to device or group.

Regards,
Ivan

Turn off the write protection filter on the client, instructions to do this are sent out with the SBB. Install PowerPoint Viewer and restart the machine. Next from a USB stick plug into the SBB open up a PowerPoint Presentation and accept the terms and conditions using a keyboard/mouse connected to the client. Restart the client again. Re-enable the write protection filter and restart the client. This will allow you to schedule PowerPoint Presentation directly from the Server (with timings set in the Presentation).

Using the Office element in the author that Mike suggested is the cleanest way to add a powerpoint, adding raw powerpoint elements to the playlist also works it is hover highly necessary to know what is and what is not supported.

Compatible document file formats
-- Extension : ppt, pptx
-- Version : Office 97 and up
Functions not supported
-- Animation effect
-- 3D shapes (which will be displayed in 2D)
-- Header and footer (some subitems are not supported)
-- Word Art
-- Align (A group alignment error may occur)
-- SmartArt is not fully supported. 97 out of 115 subitems are supported.
-- Object insertion
-- Opening encrypted documents
-- Vertical text (some subitems are not supported)
-- Slide notes and handout

Normally I advise my user to export the power point to PPS format.

I just save the powerpoint as MP4.   This keeps all the animations etc..
