MP4 Playback and Windows Media Player
« on: October 04, 2010, 05:00:13 PM »
We recently purchased 3 SyncMaster400FPn-2's.  MP4's will not play through the MPPlayer.  The embeded XP OS won't let us upgrade to Windows Media Player 11.  How can we upgrade to 11 and or get MP4's to play?

Hi

have you installed a MP4 codec on the client?

Yes.  We have tried installing mpegableAVC, x264 and ffdshow.  Nothing seems to work.  Windows Media doesn't recognize the mp4 files and the MagicInfo player just shows a blank white screen when trying to play them.

I installed the storm codec pack and was able to play mp4 through the MaginInfo player.  However, the video seems slow and the audio is choppy.

I think I could make this all go away if we could upgrade to Windows Media Player 11.  Has anyone had any luck doing this?

You can use K-Lite codecs, I find them to be the best to be honest and I have MP4 files playing. With regards to MP11, If the OS is WES (Windows Embedded Standard) then the MP11 is installed. I am not sure what the FPn unit has.
