How to switch off the screens during week end
« on: December 03, 2009, 11:10:34 AM »
Hi Again,

My beautifull screens are playing all the week end for .......  nobody

As I would like to take care of our environment  :) and also save the timelife of the monitor, i would like to switch them off during week end or holiday period.

Is this possible or should i add a weekly timer on the plug

Thank's again

Bob

Hi Bob

believe it or not this comes up again and again on here and it never seems to be included in updates to the program.

Why not have a week day schedule as well as daily/weekly/monthly - it seems pretty simple to me. Think of all the schools/colleges/universities that use the system but shut at weekends.

We kind of got round it by recording a mouse macro which we run on a Friday to turn all the screen 'on' timers off and then on Monday we run another to turn all the screen 'on' timers on again. We leave all the 'off' timers as they are.

To make the macro we used Autohotkey  ;D

Turning the screens off is simple. Please follow these steps:

1) create a new template
2) in the background select source (defaults to PC)
3) Select the source to Panel off
4) Save the template with an appropriate name

You can schedule this anytime you want. I normally have the Off.scn template fro 0000 to 0800 and then from 1800 to 2400. This turns off the panel, but not the embedded PC which is normal as when the template at 0800 starts, the screen will wake up.

I hope this helps.

Hi Bill

just wondered, if you are using the daily schedule is there a quick way to turn the screens off just for Saturday/Sunday without having to build a weekly schedule? When you have many screens (30+) the schedule database clogs up with too many entries if using the weekly schedule and takes forever to do anything if you schedule more than one weeks worth of weekly schedules. We like to schedule at least a month ahead using the daily schedule but how to leave out weekends in an easy way?

Many thanks  ???

Hi Bill,

I just tried to create a screen using source set to PC, but cannot see an option for "Panel off" in the source... Am I missing a trick somewhere?

Oup's press the enter key to fast
So on the background select screen on the left treee view then in the parameter list at the bottom
Type = Source list
Sourcelist =Panel Off

Bob

the weekly stuff just SUCKS ;) .. well thanks for the trick with the panel_off , but as everyone knows you now have to set for each week , 5days .. ah this is such a crap ;) otherwise you can - well save 14hours if you keep it turned on on saturday/sunday like the daily weektime schedule. rofl ;) ... saving 14hours instead of 24hours .. so only 10hours turned on like week-days ;)
