Title: Jpg viewing problem on schedules
Post by: Abiss on January 07, 2010, 09:37:02 AM
HI to everyone. We have a 400Uxn here and we are trying to fully learn it as we will have to show it to customers very soon. We are currently working only with Magic Info Pro. We can generally play everything. We have some issues with office files but I think they will be solved if we install the full office software and not the viewers.

The main problem we have and I can't understand why is playing jpeg files on schedule mode. I can go to the player mode of the monitor and open the files properly (or if i use the monitor as a normal pc), but when i schedule something... the jpg is missing. Does anybody have an idea why?

thanks

I am not sure I understand. Have you registered the jpg files in the library?

Bill

Yes, I 've sent files to library successfully. Then I can create a screen successfully with files from the library, which i can also preview successfully on my computer. Save the screen and then schedule it and publish it and only the background (or other elements that i might inlcude) appear on the 400Uxn. The jpgs cannot be reproduced or cannot be published. I just tried it again and that is the log:

I've been thinking if it had problems reading the path of the files cause it doesn't seem to understand greek characters, but i also tried it from the desktop, where the whole path is in english. I don't know, most of the rest of the supported files are being sent successfully with the same procedure.

I dont have an answer, but have a similar problem with a recent installation of a 460FPN-2 running Magicinfo pro.  .jpgs showed fine during inital setup on our network but do not appear on the display after being installed on the cusomers network.  All other content appears and I can run a photo slideshow from a USB drive so I think the unit has what it needs to display photos.  Photos are registered in the library and the preview looks fine.  When sent to the display they are just black backgrounds.  Any help with theis would be greatly appreciated to keep the customer happy.

OK - to answer my own question> After speaking with Samsungs Magic Info support I installed Server  V. 2507  and Client V 3002.  .jpgs showed up on the display immediately and I have a happy customer.

Just a quick note on the comment about installing full office suite instead of the viewers. On the older 4Gig FDM machines this is not recommended due to the size of the hard drive. the unit will crash.

However for those struggling with Windows' Power Point only playing in full screen mode due to MS .PPT viewers own limitations, you can install PowerPoint 2002 (full version) as it has the smallest footprint of all PPT editions. This will allow .ppt files to be played in a small window.

Hope this helps (even if it does not relate to .jpg playback).

To answer my own topic....most of the problem seemed to be that the software doesn't understand Greek characters. And because we use Win XP greek most of the paths have greek chartacters in them so the files can't be read for some reason. If i place the desired files in just C:/ for example where there is no Greek character it works. MOving to a PC with English XP offered a more stable system. HOwever it didn't solve all problems. Only m2v videos can be played for some reason (we have installed apppropriate codecs). Anyway, i guess magic info i is the way to go.
