Title: Hdd upgrade on Mxn-2 lfd
Post by: peolol on February 16, 2011, 10:24:09 PM
We have a couple of samsung mxn-2 screens 32" and 40"
Today i installed a new 230mxn with 40Gb HDD,the screen comes with win embedded with sp3
The mxn-2 screens only have 4Gb ide fdm hdd and that is a problem because sp3 for XP cant be installed.
I wonder if someone has upgraded the internal hdd on a mxn-2?
Is it possible to run the 230mxn image on a 320mxn-2 to get a newer os image?
Could this fit in the screen or is the space smaller?  http://www.memoryx.net/ts64gssd25m.html

You would save a lot of money if you cut down the storage space and used a SDHC card with one of these:

I think the MXN-2 screens use an IDE for their FDM, not SATA. So you can get IDE FDMs, just google IDE 32GB FDM and you will find them. The problem here is that you need to find one that is at right angles, so that you can insert it without sticking out. Also, I am not sure about the Windows OS, because the Samsung screens will not execute their player software unless it is an image from Samsung. So if you do purchase this large FDM, you will need to do so re-partitioning on them. This is all a laborious work.

You can insert a USB memory stick on the USB ports of course and configure the client to look for that E: drive for data - I guess this is a bit slow. It is just a suggestion.
