Screens not showing for server+ Windows passwords.
« on: September 06, 2010, 11:33:26 AM »
Hi all,
We have had our network all running now for 8months+ with no problems.

We?ve been shut down for 5 weeks on vacation so the monitors have been switched off.
Upon turning them all back on none are being picked up by the server. The only option you have when in Magic info is to turn the monitor on (which it already is). If you go physically to the monitor you can access the internet etc.. Which would lead us to think that its not a network problem that way.
They are however now asking for a Windows password when you try to remote on via VNC.
Do the screens have a set windows password as this shouldn't have change in the 5 weeks they have been off?

Thanks
Ian

Hi, no, no password-have you checked you have still got the correct server name/ip address? Server firewall setting or a change in the network. If none of them work then it sounds more like a server issue than individual client issue-try a server reboot-can you ping the clients or ping somewhere else from the clients..

The passwords on the Samsung MagicInfo screens is 000000 (six zeros). If you want to eliminate to need to enter the password do the following:

Start --> Run --> control userpasswords2 and then untick the appropriate tab.

Remember to also EWF the screens, eg Start --> Run --> ewfmgr c: - commit

You must never (not ever) try to get these screens onto a network otherwise you will have these problems. These are digital signage screens, and strickly shouldn't be used as PCs.
