Connection Problems - VNC

I'm experiencing a problem where a screen will lose it's network connection, drop off the network completely (doesn't respond to pings), after trying to VNC to the screen or simply after a certain amount of time.

When I shut down the machine I get a message saying winvnc has stopped responding, which I suspect might be the cause of the problem.

I'm not sure how to go about fixing this considering UltraVNC seems to be bundled with the client software, the only VNC option I can change is the password.

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated.
