question concerning installation
« on: July 25, 2010, 05:54:29 PM »
Hello,

I have bought a 400 MX2-N and I have read the installation manual on this forum.
In this manual they make the distinction between the "Server", this is the PC where the server software is installed, and the "Client", the 400 MX2-N monitor.

I would like to install the server software on our server 2003 R2 in order use this is our company network.  In order to run this program, I would like to use another PC in our company network.

Am I able to do this? How do I have to install this? Can you shut down the PC in our network without interrupting the presentation on the 400 MX2-N?

I hope that someone can help me.

Kind regards,
Alain

Hi

you can install the server software on just about any pc on your network-you should have received a server software installation CD with your screens.

The screens already have the client software installed.

If you run the clients (screens) in scheduler mode then you only need the pc hosting the server software on when you publish your content and the schedule to the clients.

Turning off the server therefore will not affect the screens running in scheduler mode.

It is however extremely beneficial to keep the server software running as it also allows you to remotely monitor and check the clients hardware and software are functioning correctly.
