Hi Folks, newbie to the forum here and relative newbie to MagicInfo Pro.

I seem to be having the same problem as others when trying to register Powerpoint 2007 slideshows to the library. MagicInfo Pro can see pps files but not ppsx. It can also see other Office 2007 documents such as xlsx and docx.

I've tried solutions from other posts on the forums such as reinstalling Office 2007, and installing MagicInfo after 2007 is on the server but with no luck.

I have two servers in separate locations that exhibit the same problems - one is v2506 and the other is v2509b.

Can anyone offer up any suggestions. I've given it some serious time but now the natives are getting restless!

Just had this reply from Samsung:

"MIP (MagicInfo Pro) does not officially support Microsoft Office 2007; however, for some users it works well. The last officially supported version is 2003.

Now, it does not make any difference whether you install PowerPoint earlier or later than MIP. The fact is that ppsx (PowerPoint Show) is not supported. Please convert PPSX to PPT. It would work well."


This seems a little poor. I'd appreciate it if anyone has any suggestions to get PP2007 "unofficially" working!

I am not sure what you are saying... or asking...

I use PPT 2007 version and it is OK. I have never been a fan of PPSX or PPS files, so I use the standard PPT and PPTX. Maybe you have created the PPSX files from Office 2010. I use Office 2007 and it is fine for me.

Hi Bill, thanks for responding.

Basically we were unable to send PPSX files created in Office 2007 to the MIP library. They wouldn't even show up in the browse window of v2509b. I contacted support through SamsungLFD.com and they advised that Office 2003 was the last version officially supported by Samsung/MagicInfo. I can see from the forums that others are not seeing the problems that I see but nothing i've tried has helped. We are getting round it by saving all presentations as 97-2003 PPS, but as our screens are administered on a daily basis by our HSE department, they often don't remember to do this

If you use PPTX, does this play as a show on the displays?
