Took ages to get this info from Samsung, so thought it was well worth posting here.
This is valid for any XP Embedded LFDs.
You will need a USB drive at least 1GB in size
1. DOWNLOAD COMPONENTS
Download the latest OS image from http://www.samsunglfd.com/support/ - you will need to register to access downloads
Find the images by setting the 1st search category to 'Software' and the 2nd to 'OS'
The XP Embedded images will have 'XPE' in the filename eg. M-LEO
XPE04HTS_1010.0.zip
The package should contain a SFIM executable. If not, you can download that by changing the 2nd search category to 'Software'
You will also need the USB drive formatting tool. Enter in the search option 'USB' to find it
2. PREPARE THE USB DRIVE
Run the EXE and select the USB drive to use from the list. Select FAT if under 4GB and FAT32 if over.
No need to select the MS-DOS boot option.
3. COPY FILES
Extract the .SFI file from the OS download and copy to the USB drive. Rename to 'image.SFI' - this saves time later.
Copy the SFIM application and rename to 'sfim.exe'
4. PREPARE THE LFD
Take the USB drive and a USB keyboard and connect to your LFD.
Power down and restart the LFD, pressing 'DEL' on the USB keyboard you connected to enter the BIOS screen.
Change the boot order to boot from the USB device first.
5. BACKUP OLD CONFIG
Reboot the LFD and if you have doen the previous bit correctly, it should boot to the USB drive.
To back up the old config you need to run the following command:
sfim /b:1 oldimage.sfi
6. INSTALL NEW OS
Now we need to write the new OS file:
sfim /r:1 image.sfi /s
7. COMPLETING THE INSTALLATION
Remove the USB drive and reboot the LFD. It should now start with the new OS image.
8. INSTALL CLIENT SOFTWARE
You will now need to install the relevant client software - downloads avialable from the samsunglfd.com website under the download section, as before.
9. PLAN B!
If for wat ever reason the above fails, you backed up your previous client image.
To restore it repeat step 6, replacing the filename to 'oldimage.sfi'
