3x3 with 460UX-3
« on: March 18, 2011, 02:54:30 PM »
Hello,
I plan to install a 3x3 video wall.
I'd like to use 460UX-3 displays, and I have a few questions:
- The bezel seems much larger than the series 460UT, is visually shocking?
- To configure the matrix can I use one ethernet screen connected to the PC and then use the serial link between all other screens? (1 x 460UXn-3 + 8 x 460UX-3)
- The video signal is sent via DVI to the first screen, and then passes the signal on each screen via the DVI-OUT, then each screen displays a portion of that signal (via MDC settings), I am far?
What is the maximum resolution that can be sent from the PC?

Thank you very much!

Loic

First of all as far you posted this in MagicInfo Video Wall (MIVW) topic, to use MIVW you need video wall of network displays in other case it will not work.

- The bezel seems much larger than the series 460UT, is visually shocking?
UT much better IMHO.

- To configure the matrix can I use one ethernet screen connected to the PC and then use the serial link between all other screens? (1 x 460UXn-3
+ 8 x 460UX-3)
Do you mean install on the first screen with embedded PC special s/w to (something like Samsung MDC) and use rs232 daisy chain connection to other displays in VW?
If you will have stand alone PC connected (not embedded to display) you can use it to manage screens settings by rs232. Just connect all screens by daisy chain and you don't need to buy on one UXn.

- The video signal is sent via DVI to the first screen, and then passes the signal on each screen via the DVI-OUT, then each screen displays a portion of that signal (via MDC settings), I am far?
correct, this will work.

-What is the maximum resolution that can be sent from the PC?
Full HD (1920x1080)

Thank you for  your  reply
I plan to use MDC but I did not find a forum for this software,
Indeed I do not need networking capability, the PC will be directly connected to the screens.
Concerning maximum resolution, I am a little disappointed, are you certain that the total resolution (3x3) will only be full HD? This would mean that each screen will display 640x360 ... ?

- You can find MDC s/w on samsunglfd.com or request samsung support.

- This is more than enough for the Digital Signage projects. If you will decide for UT models the resolution will be 1366x768 which is also good enough.
For high resolution video walls you need to use video controllers, also content and graphic card for high res. solution is very expensive.
