MDC scheduling
« on: April 01, 2011, 04:05:43 PM »
Hi,

I am looking for solution to manage video wall by rs232 (or by Ethernet, new Samsung LFD support this) like Samsung MDC software does, but with functionality of scheduling some commands for certain time of day. For example:
video wall 4x4
at 9:00 turn on all displays of the video wall,
at 9:30 change source of screen A1 to AV and turn off video wall settings for this screen.
at 10:30 split video wall into 4 small video walls (2x2), change video wall settings, changes sources. set volume to maximum. and so on.....

I will appreciate any ideas.

Hey DSSC,

You can do this utalizing a videowall matrix reletively easily, but this will run in the 10.000's of dollars
It should be possible using just MDC though.

The hardest part in your setup seems to be changing the 4×4 to 4 times 2×2 this would require the first monitor to have 2 inputs, let's say DP and DVI.
(DP will be used for Daisy chaining). the video wall settings can be set per source! so for DP we'll use an unconventional daisychain across all 16 monitors, see red line in picture attached. (have not tried this though)
then on DVI we'll use the conventional daisy chain on monitor's 1, 3,9 and 11.

after that it's just sending the codes to switch sources on these 4 monitors.
the rest will remain on DP
