Content download status: Standby (thread 2)
« on: October 10, 2013, 01:06:31 PM »
There's an old topic here, but my case is a bit different.

So, the infrastructure is the following:
40+ LFD's, playing a rock-solid schedule, everything is ok.
The LFD contains 1 web page (not visible) and one looped video in the front

We decided to include another video in the schedule. Things got messy:

There was a short delay between the two videos,
showing the internet page (HOW?!) so I overlapped the two videos' loop timers.

So they overlap by a second to ensure non-stop playback.
I tested it on my own pc with the author - works like a charm.

I made a new group to publish the content to the monitors.
I made also a new schedule to do so, assigned it to the group.
After moving the LFD's in it, only 7 out of 40 accepted the new schedule.

TL:DR - Assigned new schedule, LFD continues playing the old one. What to do?
Content download status: Standby

Monitor has enough free space, so my older fix doesn't apply here.

Thanks in advance!

I have this same problem, in both version 2002 and the new 2004. I created a user that has "content schedule manager" rights- the highest setting I can give besides administrator.
When this user uploads new content and changes the schedule to point to the new content, MOST OF THE TIME nothing happens. I then log in as administrator and see that the content is on STANDBY in the devices tab. What is happening? Do I, as administrator, need to approve the content before it goes on the schedule?

poking around further, I see that there are TWO schedules on this one device! (see pic) I went into the schedule and deleted it from the device, so it should be playing nothing (spinning cube). But it continues to play this "ghost schedule" that I can't get rid of. I restarted the player also.

Deleted the schedule entirely, screen went to the spinning cube. Created a new schedule for that device, and when I publish the schedule it says "the schedule was reserved successfully" instead of "the schedule was created successfully" like it normally does. That made me think to check if DEPLOY WITH RESERVATION was selected- it was!! So the schedule was on Standby because it was waiting until Midnight to change the schedule. So I changed it to Deploy Now, and it's working.

One more note (since I am limited to 500 characters)- I did have to "approve" the other users schedule. I had my user schedule the content and choose deploy now. I then had to log in as admin and the content was on Standby. I had to choose deploy now on the schedule for it to immediately change to the new content.
