Can the IR remote reboot the PC in the ....n systems?

If I've got an ...n system (Embedded XP), mounted high on the wall, and it's Windows subsystem hangs, can the system be rebooted with the IR remote?  Or does a person need to climb a ladder and hold the power button down for 6 seconds?

You can turn off the entire screen with the remote control "off" button. It powers down both the lc display and the pc.
