Disconnected Status on Device but I can ping it
« on: June 16, 2014, 05:41:13 PM »
Hello,

I have Magic-Info Premium Server setup on a desktop running Windows 7.  The Samsung Monitor that I am trying to push a presentation to is still Windows XP (not sure that this matters) and I can ping this monitor from the Windows 7 machine.  However, when I go to push a new presentation to the monitor, it shows that it is disconnected and it won't update.  I can go through the steps of uploading and pushing the new presentation but when I go look at the monitor physically, it is showing and old presentation (one that was uploaded before I changed the server to Windows 7).  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mary

what happens when you restart the Samsung monitor, does it reconnect to the server?

Yes, when I resart the monitor itself it does reconnect but only for about 10 minutes.  The monitor disconnects though before I can even get a new presentation loaded.

Hi Mary,

First, take a look at log files on sides, player and server.
Second, check Firewall settings on Windows 7 machine.
Third, send more details on hardware models and software versions used in setup.

Regards,
Ivan

I am also experiencing this behavior with. If I am lucky after a reboot of the panel, it may come up on the server for a few minutes, and then it disappears and will not come back again. It answers pings and vnc access works fine so there should not be anything with network connectivity.
I have tried to upgrade from V1 series software to V2 but to no avail.

My units:  Panel DB48D (LH48DBDPLGC/EN) and SBB (SBB-D32CV2/EN

Geir

Ivan,

Thank you for the reply.  I found an error in the log files on the server:

Log Name:      Application
Source:        MagicInfoStreamDaemon
Date:          6/16/2014 11:34:23 AM
Event ID:      273
Task Category: None
Level:         Error
Keywords:      Classic
User:          N/A
Computer:
Description:
The description for Event ID 273 from source MagicInfoStreamDaemon cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

Event Xml:
<Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">
  <System>
    <Provider Name="MagicInfoStreamDaemon" />
    <EventID Qualifiers="49152">273</EventID>
    <Level>2</Level>
    <Task>0</Task>
    <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords>
    <TimeCreated SystemTime="2014-06-16T15:34:23.000000000Z" />
    <EventRecordID>17302</EventRecordID>
    <Channel>Application</Channel>
    <Computer>BLGD2703.amers.ibechtel.com</Computer>
    <Security />
  </System>
  <EventData>
  </EventData>
</Event>

I didn't find any relevant errors on the Player.  Below are the Firewall settings on the Server:

MagicInfo-i Premium Server FTP: TCP Protocol, port 21.
MagicInfo-i Premium Server HTTP: TCP Protocol, port 7001
MagicInfo-i Premium Server Stream: TCP Protocol, port 7000
MagicInfo-i Premium Server VNC Client: TCP Protocol, port 5500
MagicInfo-i Premium Server VNC Server: TCP Protocol, port 5901

On the monitor itself: MagicInfo Pro version 1.00.000, MagicInfo-i Client version1.00.0000 (this monitor is at least 3 years old).  The monitor is running Windows XP and the Server is running Windows 7, could that make a difference?  When I talked to support and asked the question they said it didn't matter and that I wouldn't need to update anything on the monitor itself. The support team also gave me the Premium edition to install on the Server.  Is the version difference the issue?

Thanks,
Mary

rhesusminus what version of server are you using? Do you have version "2005"? (the latest version of 2.0)
